FAKE NEWS ALERT: Deplorable Pictures Circulating on Internet aren’t for Jinja Referral Hospital

1 Mins read

The top administration of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital has dismissed with contempt a fake news campaign aiming at portraying the facility as under sorry state.

The Director of this hospital Dr. Florence Tugumisirize while speaking to this website on Friday afternoon questioned the motive of whoever engineered the campaign by posting pictures on social media showing patients living under deplorable conditions in one of the facility’s wards.

“I don’t know what the motive of this person is. I don’t know where they got these pictures and I have never seen them anywhere,” she said.

Adding that: “Whoever wants to prove can visit our hospital. Even the members of parliament were here a few days ago over the same. And they can clearly tell what they saw.”

Dr Tugumisirize said she will be issuing a statement on this matter to clear the air later in the day.

She asked the public to disregard  this fake campaign with all contempt it deserves.

The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine earlier clarified on her twitter page that the pictures attached to Jinja Hospital were fake.

“This is not Jinja Regional Referral hospital. You took a very old picture of Jinja Hospital gate and added pictures (probably from the internet) to satisfy your interests. I challenge you to revisit your conscience or visit Jinja RRH and verify in case you shared out of ignorance,” she said.

For a long period of time, unknown individuals harbouring very toxic intentions have orchestrated a campaign targeting Ministry of Health officials particularly PS Atwine and her boss Dr Ruth Aceng.

But the two senior doctors have instead responded to their detractors in high spirit revealing that nothing can stop them from serving their nation with commitment and diligence.
