The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set new dates for the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
After the CAF Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday, the African football governing body agreed that the tournament that accommodates locally based players will take place between 16th January to 7th February 2021.
Initially, the CHAN tournament was scheduled for 4th to 25th April 2020 but was postponed following the global outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Tournament hosts Cameroon will face off with Zimbabwe in the opener while the remaining fixtures will be confirmed in the next few weeks.
Uganda, having never gone past the group stages of the Championship, was pitted in group C against Morocco, Rwanda and Togo.
Morocco are the defending champions while Togo are featuring for the first time in their history.
All the 16 nations that qualified for the tournament were also advised to kick-off preparations for the Championship.
Group A: Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe
Group B: Libya, DR Congo, Congo Republic, Niger
Group C: Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, Togo
Group D: Zambia, Guinea, Namibia, Tanzania
