Businessman Bob Kabonero has dismissed claims that Kampala Casino has reopened, saying its only the restaurant which is operational.

“We have been closed since March and we only recently opened the restaurant for lunch from noon to 4:00pm because offices are open in the building and surrounding areas,” Kabonero told ChimpReports on Tuesday.

Earlier, reports indicated that the the popular Casino had been quietly opened to clients.

The gambling house is yet to resume operations

A photo was shared on social media purporting to show that the Kampala-based Casino was up and running.

However, Kabonero said the picture which circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp was fake.

“That photo is shopped from the Internet and it’s not Kampala Casino,” said Kabonero who has run the popular gambling house for many years.

“We will open when the Gaming board allows us to open,” he emphasised.

The Casinos were among the social places which were closed by President Museveni to prevent spread of Coronavirus.

Uganda Police Force recently arrested 11 people at Empire Casino locates at Imperial Royale hotel in Kampala for defying presidential directives on COVID-19 prevention measures.
