Brothers Murder Their Father over ‘Unfair Distribution of Land’

Police in Mayuge are investigating a gruesome murder in which two men allegedly killed their father for unfairly distributing family land amongst his children.

The suspects named Peter Sebale and Franco Wandera killed their father identified as John Balilaine from Namadu village in Mayuge district on Saturday last week.

According to police, preliminary investigations show that the deceased has long been having a misunderstanding in his family especially with the two sons who have been accusing him of not distributing his land among the many children he has.

On the fateful day, the two got their father when he was heading to his home in the same village and started assaulting him.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said they waylaid and tortured him. He was rushed to a clinic in Iganga town where he succumbed to severe injuries after one day of admission.

The two were immediately arrested and charged for the murder of their father.

Enanga revealed that Police continues to register cases of domestic violence in which several people have lost their lives.

Similarly in Arua district, police is holding a one Omuwa Hasib aged 29, a boda boda rider who also killed his father in a land conflict.

Police said that Omuwa, who is a resident of Okuvuwa village, hit his father with a hoe on the head which killed him instantly.

Reports indicate that the deceased, identified as Ozuda Naftali, found his son while he was digging his compound and tried to stop him but the son reiterated and instead killed him. Both were in possession of hoes.

The son handed himself to police and he has been charged with aggravated murder.

The two separate murders follow a similar incident in which a man killed four of his family members in Kisoro district for giving him a poor terrain piece of land where he planned to construct a house.
