The Judiciary has come out and dismissed recent reports alleging that murder suspect Mathew Kanyamunyu secretly met with the trial judge in his case in one of the city hotels.
The allegations were made a blogger who posted a photo of dark blue Land Cruiser Prado registration number UG 0762J alleged to be owned by the judge, parked at City hotel where Kanyamunyu was said to be present.
In a statement however, Judiciary Public Relations officer Jameson Karemani said the judiciary does not have this vehicle in its fleet.
“We clarify that the vehicle in the Facebook post is neither part of the fleet of the Judiciary nor is it driven by any judge/Judiciary official. It is important to note that the “J” plates are also used by other government bodies in the Justice sector.”
Karemani further revealed that the trial of Mr Kanyamunyu with his co acused is in advanced stages and the matter will return to court next week on 27th October before Justice Stephen Mubiru.
The Government plates with letter J are also used by Uganda Registration Bureau (URSB) , Office of the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecution among others.
