Revival Church Senior Pastor Augustine Yiga, 43, is dead.
“There are no goodbyes. Wherever you’ll be, you’ll be in our hearts,” said ABS TV which Yiga owned.
“You will always be within us, it’s just the graveyard where you lay to rest.”
Yiga passed on at Nsambya Hospital on Monday night.
Also known as ‘Abizayo’, Yiga was was rushed to the hospital last week in critical condition.
The father of eight was last week pronounced dead but the family quickly dispelled the rumours, saying he was still alive in hospital.
Yiga, a controversial preacher, was earlier this year arrested and remanded to Kitalya Prison for doing an act likely to spread infection of Coronavirus.
Yiga publicly stated that there was no coronavirus in Uganda and Africa, which were broadcast on various television stations.
Yiga’s TV described the deceased as a “great pastor”.
“We cannot believe that you are no longer with us. This is a tragedy for us, we will pray for you dear friend, father, mentor, great pastor. Rest in peace. Pastor yiga abizaayo Augustine,” said ABS TV.
However, Pastor Solomon Male, a critic of Yiga, said the deceased “has ruined many people’s lives and caused untold hurt and misery to many others.”
Male said Yiga “has died without facing earthly justice,” adding, “My prayers for those he has hurt to take heart; he probably thought himself immortal, now it is time for him to face the Creator to whom we must all account.”
