A WhatsApp message that the NRM flag bearer for the Ibanda district Youth Chairperson seat, Godfrey Mugisha, left behind before succumbing to Covid-19 has left his family and friends in pain and grief.
Mugisha, who died of the deadly virus on Sunday, November 8, 2020, after being admitted to Mulago Hospital’s ICU on October 28, warned his friends that Covid-19 is real and people should follow guidelines issued by Government.
“I am concerned that you called and asked about my health. Let’s protect everyone and take the necessary precautions as prescribed by expert medical personnel. Now am admitted at ICU Mulago,” read Mugisha’s text message to a colleague shortly before his death.
Mugisha’s death is part of the growing deaths of Covid-19 in the country.
As of Saturday, Uganda had recorded 14,066 Covid-19 cases and 131 deaths.
Government has urged presidential candidates to respect campaign guidelines on crowds to avoid exposing people to Covid-19.
According to Information minister Judith Nabakooba, some candidates are already flouting Ministry of Health guidelines on gatherings, leading to confrontation with police.
