I’ll Fight Corruption with all my Heart – Gen Muntu Rallies Bunyoro

1 Mins read

Campaigning in Bunyoro region this Sunday, presidential candidate Rtd Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has said nearly all Ugandan public institutions are grappling with corruption.

“You go to Education Ministry, there is corruption. Then LDU, corruption. Justice Ministry is also not spared from corruption. There is corruption everywhere,” said Muntu while addressing a campaign event in Hoima.

He said the people should vote him president as he’s incorruptible and won’t tolerate the vice.

“I led the army at a very young age of 29. I was commanding 100,000 soldiers but I maintained a clean record,” said Muntu.

“This country needs someone who’s clean enough to do the clean-up,” he added.

Muntu was NRA’s youngest army commander.

He served for nine years at the helm of the military’s leadership.

“I was sober. I never got drunk by power. And i promise you I’ll remain sober when elected president,” said Muntu, a former combatant of NRA.

Earlier, Police blocked the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate from accessing his planned rally venue in Hoima City.

Gen Muntu had on Sunday planned to hold his rally at Hoima Booma grounds that is near Hoima Central Police station.

However, police and the army sealed off the venue and blocked ANT campaign team led by Kasese Woman MP Winnie Kiiza.

Albertine regional police spokesperson Julius Hakiza said police and the army had already booked the venue for their activities.

But Mr Jackson Wabyoona, the ATN western regional coordinator, said Hoima City Town Clerk had cleared Gen Muntu to hold a rally at the venue

He added that even police blocked Gen Muntu from holding his other rally at Kigorobya Muslim Primary School grounds in Kigorobya County on grounds that it was too close to Kigorobya Police

Wabyoona lashed at police for sabotaging opposition activities with lame excuses.

Gen Muntu later campaigned in Kyangwali Sub-county in Kikuube District.
