Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, together with Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi who were arrested in connection to the unauthorised concert that was held on Saturday night in Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala City have been remanded to Kitalya Prison till Wednesday December 16, 2020.
The trio was today arraigned before Court in Makindye and they are being held on charges of Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act, according to Police.
“The Nigerian trio of Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi has been charged to court in Makindye on charges of Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious disease C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act,” reads a brief statement from Police.
Police further stated that the earlier plans of releasing them on police bond, were suspended after their casefile was sanctioned by the Office of the DPP.
“They were jointly charged with four other Ugandans. All remanded till Wednesday 16.12.2020.”
Meanwhile, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango yesterday said the law enforcement body “is also looking for the area Officer in Charge of Police Station for failure to detect the criminal acts that took place in his area of jurisdiction.”
He said the organizers of the show “disguised it as lunch and dinner event, but later on at night they started inviting artistes to perform.”
According to promotional materials circulated on social media, the music enthusiasts converged at Speke Resort Munyonyo before proceeding to Dungu for the festival.
