2020/21 Masaza Cup | Butikkiro Group

• Mawogola 1-0 Butambala
• Bulemeezi 2-1 Buluuli

10-man Mawogola Ssaza team held nerves to stun Butambla 1-0 during a Butikiro group game played at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Saturday.

An own goal from Butambala’s defender Athanas Mutaawe was enough to see Mawogola pip Butambala and edge closer to the quarter finals of the 2020/2021 Masaza Cup.

The victors Mawogola, however, ended the game with 10 men following a red card to left back Hassan Nsubuga for a reckless tackle on Butambala’s Frank Yiga.

Mawogola now has 7 points from three matches and tops the group standings, tied on points with defending champions Bulemeezi who also edged Buluuli 2-1 in the other game played.

Bulemeezi’s two goals were scored by Sulaiman Ssesazi (penalty) and Bernaldo Kateregga while John Vianney Bukenya scored the only consolation for Buluuli.

Butikkiro group stage games will climax on Monday when Mawogola plays Bulemeezi in the early kick off (12 PM) before Ssingo takes on Butambala at 3 PM.
