Busujju Ssaza has revived it’s hope of advancing to the 2020/21 Masaza Cup quarter-finals after defeating Buwekula 2-0 on Sunday morning.

Shafic Kakande’s first half goal (28′) and Isaac Kiberu’s second half strike from a direct corner kick (71′) were enough to guide Busujju to their first tournament victory in three games at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Defender Otunnu Stuart came to Busujju’s rescue off his timely clearance to deny Daniel Nyanzi after 26 minutes before Ivan Irinimbabazi released Kakande for Busujju’s opener.

In the second half, Buwekula made two quick substitutions resting Nyanzi Daniel and Hussein Mwanje for Jamaldin Nsereko and Sande Iga respectively.

In the 71st minute, Kiberu doubled Busujju’s lead when goalkeeper Walusimbi Eddy failed to manage his direct corner kick before the ball bounced inside the goal and center referee pointed to the center.

Ten minutes later, Busujju’s striker Brian Omirambe who had earlier missed a close range header paved way for defender Samson Kasozi as the game neared it’s climax.

Victory took Busujju to four points in the third position and stands high chances of advancing to the quarter-finals provided they win their final group match against Buvuma with a high goal margin on Tuesday.

After their first defeat, Buwekula remains on four points and will need to sail past Busiro on the same day to progress to the next stage should the other game (Busujju Vs Buvuma) end in their favor.
