The Chairperson of the Renewed Uganda pressure group, Omar Kalinge Nnyago has called upon all people are campaigning for their presidential candidate, retired LT. Gen. Henry Tumukunde to collaborate with their opposition colleagues when they meet in the field.
Nnyago said on election day, all their agents should be friendly to other opposition parties since their main enemy is one-NRM.
“Share tips on the polling station with agents from the Democratic Party, National Unity Platform, Forum for Democratic Change and all other comrades in struggle because you all saw us signing a Memorandum of understanding at Hotel Africana on power sharing recently,” he said
“I want to assure you that the next government will have Henry Tumukunde, Bobi Wine, Norbert Mao, Mugisha Muntu and all other comrades in the struggle. Therefore, don’t create wars amongst yourselves because you are all going to be in one government. Form one unified force and overthrow this regime,” he said.
He made these remarks, while officially flagging off a section of Tumukunde’s ground door to door campaign team (The Virgin Voters).
Nnyago reaffirmed Tumukunde’s earlier statement that they are going to deny the incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the simple majority in the forthcoming polls,
“We have now embarked on a great duty of convincing him to step down peacefully, because we shall give him all the privileges he deserves,” he noted,
“This time round he has no capacity to get 50%+1 votes.” He said.
It should be noted that recent opinion polls ranked Tumukunde among the weakest candidates with less than 1% votes, and NRM’s Museveni leading with over 55%.
