Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, has this Sunday been arrested in Mpigi town on his way to Butambala District for campaigns.
Amuriat, who had just defiantly held a rally in the middle of the town, was arrested after he moved out of his car to save his aide Walid Lubega from imminent arrest.

He was sandwiched by a dozen of Field Force Unit officers who forced him into a waiting truck before being whisked to Mpigi Central Police Station (CPS) where he is currently being held.
Talking to Chimpreports, Sedres Kabugho, the Regional Traffic Commander, disclosed that Amuriat was arrested for “seating on top of his car”.
“We found the Presidential Candidate of FDC seated on top of a car. Our Traffic regulations don’t permit this,” Kabugho explicitly stated.
It should be noted that Amuriat was on Friday arraigned before Kakumiro Grade One Magistrates Court on similar charges and later bailed out on Shs 500,000 Non-Cash Bail.
