Mukono: Woman Steals Baby, Strangles Mother

Police in Mukono are investigating a case in which a woman killed a mother and stole her one month old baby.

This incident happened at Wakiso, Nama Sub-county Mukono District on Wednesday January 20, 2021 during afternoon hours.

According to Kampala Metropolitan police, “Witnesses identified the deceased as Nakiguli Carolyn who had gone to collect fire wood with her two kids one aged eight and another one month old from where she was attacked and strangled by a lady identified as Anita Harriet aged 30.”

Harriet, as per witnesses’ accounts, later stole the one month old baby and disappeared from the scene leaving behind an 8 year old girl identified as Kisakye Patricia, who also sustained injuries from attempted strangling by the same culprit.

This murder took place at the farm of a one Hajjat Bagala about 500 metres from the Wakiso-katogo Road.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango said that Police found the body dressed in a yellow sleeveless top with a brown sweater, black skirt and black converse shoes lying on its stomach in the bush.

“It had injures on the neck with a swelling on the fore head. A rope was in the deceased’s neck but not so tight and information got from there was that the eight year old girl tried to remove that rope and when she failed, she walked from the scene looking for rescue. The deceased’s neck was observed with bruises,” Onyango said.

The body was taken to City mortuary Mulago for postmortem.

The suspect was arrested in Kalangala and the baby also recovered.
