Matembe Takes On NRM’s Waako in Today’s Older Persons MP Election

Former Ethics Minister and current Chairperson of Citizen Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU), Miria Matembe (Independent) and Joy Peggy Waako of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will today tussle it out in the race of female older persons Representative to Parliament.

The seat falls under Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Representatives to Parliament.

The Electoral Commission spokesperson Paul Bukenya says this election in which voting will be by electoral college, will be held at Islamic University in Uganda, Kabojja campus, Kampala.

“Waako Joy Peggy (NRM) and Matembe Miria Rukoza Koburunga (independent) are the nominated candidates for elections of the female older persons Representative to Parliament, taking place 22nd January 2021 at Islamic University in Uganda, Kabojja campus, Kampala,” he said.

Another election taking place today is of the National Female Youth Representative to Parliament which will be held at Mvara Secondary School, Arua City.
