Bamasaba cultural leader Bob Mushikori will be buried on January 30, nearly a month after his death, the kingdom has announced.
According to the head of the cultural institution’s communication committee, Mr Eric Mukhwana, the deceased Umukhuka will be laid at his ancestral home in Bududa District.
Mr Mukhwana further revealed that official mourning started on Saturday, January 23, 2021 and will continue for seven days with flags flying at half-mast.
He said there will be a night vigil at Umukuuka’s home in Mbale District on January 27, 2021 followed by a funeral service at St. Andrew’s Cathedral on January 28 and thereafter the body will be taken to Inzu parliament in Malukhu for another night vigil.
Mr Mukhwana said on January 29, 2021, there will be a public viewing of the body at Mutoto Cultural Grounds and thereafter to Bududa for another night vigil before his burial on January 30, 2021 at his ancestral home in Busai, Bududa.
He said Mushikori who died on January 4 couldn’t be buried then because they were waiting for campaigns and election activities to end to get government input as well as wait for his children who were out of the country return for the ceremonies.
