Athletics: Ugandans Impress in Kenyan Cross Country

The road to the Africa Cross Country Championships has kicked off in earnest with three Ugandan runners putting up impressive performances during the 30th edition of the Eldoret’s oldest show – the discovery Kenya cross country held over the weekend.

World cross country junior team bronze medalist Samuel Kibet crossed the finish line 9th (30:44:1) overall out of the 402 participants in the 10km senior men’s race hosted at the Eldoret Sports Club.

On the Women’s front, world Cross Country team bronze medalist Rachel Zena finished 16th (34:43.2) while Viola Chemos finished 43rd (37:42.6) out of the 312 runners that took part in the 10km senior women’s event in Eldoret.

The Ugandan runners brushed shoulders with some Kenyan top guns in the competition that electrified the North Rift Valley Town, Christened the City of champions.

The three runners are in preparation for the National Cross Country championship scheduled forFebruary 16th 2021.
