Buganda road Grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu has issued an arrest warrant for Pastor Franklin Mondo Mugisha, who is accused of obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.
The warrant was issued after Mugisha failed to respect court summons on several occasions by giving endless excuses.
In the last court sitting, Mondo’s lawyers informed court that he had flown to South Africa for Covid19 treatment.
The State Prosecution however, challenged these claims.
Prosecution lawyers noted that Mondo’s lawyers failed to produce medical forms indicating his admission to the hospital.
Having been convinced by the Prosecution’s submissions, the trial Magistrate issued the warrant of arrest against Mondo.
In a related development gospel singer Maggie Kayima aka Nabbi Omukazzi has been granted bail on one of her cases, but couldn’t not be released from Kigo prison since she has two otherpending files.
Nabbi Omukazi was charged on the 11th of December 2020 for allegedly trying to help pastor Siraje Ssemanda, who is accused of defrauding believers of 4.5 billion shillings in a fake government scholarship and employment scam; to escape prosecution by running away from the country.
She is jointly charged with pastor Sirajje, pastor Mondo Mugisha and one Jimmy Arinaitwe
Prosecution contends that in the month of February 2018 at various Pentecostal Churches and schools in Tororo district, with intent to defraud, Semanda obtained Shs 82,555,000 from Geoffrey Owor, a pastor and coordinator of all Pentecostal Churches in Tororo pretending that they would in turn pay half bursary school fees to various students/pupils on top of helping them in building churches as well as capital for believers which was not true.
The matter has been adjourned to 12th February 2020.
