Rugby: Men’s Sevens Squad Off to Jinja for Training Camp

The Uganda Rugby sevens squad on Sunday left the capital Kampala for a one week residential training camp in Jinja.

The 15 player contingent included Ian Munyani, Adrian Kasito, Solomon Okia, Nobert Okeny, Michael Wokorach, Kelvin Balagadde, Alex Aturinda, Desire Ayera, William Nkore, Isaac Massanganzira, Byron Oketayot, Aaron Ofoywroth, Joseph Aredo, Pius Ogena, and Levis Ocen.

The players were accompanied by two officials in Tolbert Onyango (coach) and Samuel Asiimwe (team Physio) as they prepare for the 2021 rugby season that kicks offs with the Olympic Games Rugby Sevens Repechage tournament scheduled for June.

This is the second residential training camp of the year after the first that was held at the high altitude Kapchorwa district in January.

The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has also set tentative dates for the Women’s Regional 10s with the first Leg earmarked for 1st -6th March in Mbale.

The second leg will take place in Soroti between 2nd -20th March while the third Leg is slated for 3rd -10th April in Jinja.
