Breaking: Supreme Court Rejects Amendment to Bobi Wine’s Petition

1 Mins read

The Supreme Court in Kampala has Tuesday dismissed a request by lawyers of National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) to make an addendum to the election petition in which they challenge the outcome of the January 14th election.

The 9 Judges of the court unanimously disallowed the petition with no reasons given. These promised to make an explanation to their decision later as the case progresses.

Bobi Wine had requested through his lawyers led by Medard Lubega Segona to make an amendment to the petition by adding more evidence.

The lawyers argued that the petitioner had not had enough time to collect all the evidence in the 2 weeks after the election since he spent the most part of it under house arrest.

However, lawyers of the respondents who include the election winner Yoweri Museveni, the Electoral Commission and Government asked the court to dismiss the amendment application because it was filed too late.
