Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine, the presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform has called upon the public to be ready to join him anytime when he calls on them to rise against the sitting government.
“After failing to get justice in the Supreme Court, we decided to go to the Court of people and when we call upon you the people, don’t waste any time to raise up and join us,” he said
“We are neither going to give up nor resign and submit to this slavery. We are not going to be violent but we are sure of removing Mr. Museveni,” he added.
Kyagulanyi made these remarks during a prayer function that was held at NUP headquarters, to pray for the party supporters whom he said are rotting in jail because of supporting him.
He noted that government has continuously arrested and detained his supporters “because of one reason, supporting Bobi Wine but whether tomorrow, the next day, month or year, we shall overcome all this and remove you Mr. Museveni,”
“We are doing everything possible to secure the freedom of our friends, over 3000 people are in both known and unknown prisons across the country and those are the few whose relatives have managed report to us,” he said.
He wondered why President Museveni and his government could make “grandfathers, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and children to cry yet our rights are given to us by God and confirmed by the Constitution, even if you squeeze us, we won’t stop until we get our freedom,”
He noted that the public Court is the perfect alternative of getting justice without being cheated in “the Courts that operate on orders from above”
Last week, Kyagulanyi officially announced that he was withdrawing election petition where he was challenging the January 14 presidential victory of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from the Supreme Court, citing biasness which he said was shown by the Court.
“We came to this Court while not expecting victory, we knew all this and wanted to expose the inefficient of our Courts but the Court have not waited for us to expose it but rather exposed itself even earlier than we expected,” he told reporters at the party headquarters last week.
