Uganda National Beach Soccer Team (Sand Cranes) has qualified for the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations Beach Soccer Final tournament scheduled to be hosted in Senegal this year.
The development follows Ghana’s withdrawal from the tournament who were Uganda’s next opponents in the AFCON qualification campaign.
Uganda was due to play Ghana in a double-header affair with the first leg scheduled for Saturday 27th March at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and the return leg slated between 9th-10th April in Ghana but the West African giants have withdrawn from the tournament.
By the time of this development, Sand Cranes tactician Salim Jamal Muwonge had summoned a squad of 20 players that were in preparations for the qualification games with a residential camp at the FUFA Technical Center.
This is the first time the Sand Cranes make it to the finals since the championship’s interception in 2006.
