Security forces this morning reportedly raided the house of Fred Ssentamu Nyanzi, the former National Unity Platform candidate for Kampala Central MP race.
The security team according to NUP, attempted to arrest Nyanzi, who is also the elder brother to party President Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), but he managed to escape.
Bobi Wine, while announcing the development on Sunday morning, described the raid as intimidation by government.
He said the officers instead arrested Nyanzi’s son.
“This morning, the home of my elder brother, Nyanzi Fred was attacked by heavily armed security operatives travelling in a ‘drone,” he said.
“They put all family members on gun point. Sensing danger, Nyanzi was able to escape, but they took his adopted son, Happy Mugisha.
Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman Luke Owoyesigire when contacted said they he was unaware of the operation.
Mr Nyanzi, who lost the parliamentary race to incumbent Muhammad Nsereko is currently in court trying to challenge the election results.
