Kenya suspends rally championship due to 3rd #Covid-19 wave

The Kenya national rally championship that slated for this weekend in Machakos county has now been cancelled following the presidential directive of banning all sporting events as a measure to contain the new wave of #Covid-19.

“Following the decision of the government of Kenya to suspend all sporting events as well as the declaration of cessation of movement within Nairobi and Machakos county, the clerk of course in consultation with the stewards has declared Force Majeure and consequently the event is cancelled,” a statement from the Clerk of Course, John Kamau read.

Earlier, the Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF) had decided to lock out spectators from the Machakos Rally but with limitation of movement between Nairobi and Machakos county, they decided to cancel the event.
