Eric Kambale scored a brace as 10-man Express humbled URA 3-1 in an exciting Uganda Premier League game on Saturday at Mutesa II stadium in Wankulukuku.
Godfrey Lwesibawa scored the other goal as Express held nerves for a home win, completing a double over the Tax collectors who pulled one back through Steven Mukwala.
The first leg encounter between the two sides ended 0-1 in favour of the six-time league winners at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje.
Dazzling winger Lwesibawa opened the scoring after ten minutes when he met Charles Musiige’s cross at the extreme end to nod home past goalkeeper Hannington Sebwalunyo.
Eight minutes later, Martin Kizza who had an impressive debut turned provider for the second goal. He curled in an inswinging free-kick from the right that met Kambale for a reflex header.
On the 38th minute mark, URA’s Brian Majwega brought down onrushing Kizza inside the area for a penalty kick. Kambale stepped up and placed the ball on the near post, stretching Eagles’ lead and completing his brace.
In the 54th minute, Express defender Murushid Jjuuko got marching orders following a foul on Joachim Ojera that led to his second yellow card leaving the hosts with numerical disadvantage.
Two minutes after, striker Steven Mukwala cut on URA’s deficit after converting a penalty that resulted from eventual man of the match Kambale’s handball in the forbidden area.
Victory took Express to 35 points in the 3rd position, one adrift of table leaders Vipers SC and URA FC.
