The embattled Gulu University Dean of Student, Mr. Christopher Mwetwage Mpora has been banned from carrying out any official work of the University until a court case against him is concluded.
Mr. Mwetwage, 49, was last week remanded to Gulu Central Prison on allegations of theft, forgery and uttering false documents.
Mr. James Onono Ojok, the Gulu University Public Relation Officer confirmed this development while speaking to ChimpReports.
“It’s true, the University management has banned the dean of students from carrying out any official duties until his court case in disposed of.’’ Said Onono
He added that even when Mr. Mwetwage is released on bail, he will have to wait until the case is concluded.
Onono further clarified that the case in which the Dean is accused does not arise from the University but is a private matter from outside
Gulu grade one Court last week heard that Mr. Mwetwage on June 20th, 2020 from Centenary Bank in Gulu City, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false to wit a forged Centenary bank Gulu branch form of cash 3,550,000 shillings in the names of Goma Oil Ginnery and that he stole the Money belonging to Mildred Anena Alou
Mpora and Anena reportedly have a joint business of a Petrol station called Goma Oil ginnery in Nwoya district. Mwetwage allegedly withdrew all the money by forging the signature of Anena
