KCCA smiled to first leg victory over Big League side Nyamityobora after a 4-2 victory in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 on Wednesday evening at the MTN Omondi stadium.

KCCA went into an early lead when Bright Anukani capitalized on the stolen ball off the legs of Abraham Ninsiima to send a powerful shot that left goalkeeper Tony Musinguzi helpless.

Five minutes later, the Abanyakare conceded the second courtesy of a beauty from Julius Poloto. The right winger out-possessed Jandiga Sharif to launch a distant stunning rocket that went upbeat Musinguzi.

Attacking midfielder Anukani could have stretched the lead off Poloto’s donkey work from the left but Wahab Lwanga cleared his goal bound attempt.

In the 19th minute, skipper Clinton Kamugisha pulled one back for Nyamityobora against the run of play. He met Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s defense splitting pass and ventured forward before squeezing a low drive past Charles Lukwago.

Custodian Musinguzi later pulled off a magnificent save to deny Charles Lwanga’s curling shot before Samuel Kato headed the resultant corner kick over the woodwork.

Sadat Anaku later joined the scoring party for KCCA. The forward received Anukani’s drilled pass on the edge of the box, dodged his marker before curling the ball with his left foot past an out-of-position Musinguzi.

Sadat Anaku sends a powerful drive for KCCA’s third goal.

Forward Lwanga was just unlucky to put his name on the score sheet after 34 minutes. He jumped high to head Poloto’s towering delivery at goal only to be denied by the woodwork before Musinguzi quickly reacted to collect the rebound.

Halftime: KCCA 3-1 Nyamityobora

10 minutes past restart made use of Lukwago’s poor goalkeeping drills to slide onto the keeper’s dropped ball that went at the back of the net.

With seven minutes to the climax, super sub Samuel Ssenyonjo stretched KCCA’s lead to four. He brushed home a fine header thanks to Joseph Kizza Bukenya’s well laid corner kick from the left.

Despite Nyamityobora’s numerous attempts to narrow the gap, Martin Arinitwe, Muhamad Matovu, and Gerrard Kimuli failed to go past KCCA’s road block.

The Kasassiro Boys will take the first leg advantage to the return leg scheduled for Saturday 10th April at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara.
