Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) head coach Sam Ssimbwa and Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) striker Sadat Anaku have been named Uganda Premier League coach and player of March respectively.
Ssimbwa lands the award having helped URA FC register five wins in five games last month to accumulate maximum points (15) after scoring ten goals conceding one.
The tax collectors registered victories against UPDF FC (0-1) in Bombo barracks barracks, identical wins (2-0) against Kyetume and Police FC, (2-1) against Vipers SC and (0-3) against Onduparaka.
“We have a group of lads at the club that are determined to do all within their power to succeed. That often makes my job as a coach easy. Such players need extra motivation to deliver. This award is for them as much as it is for me,” the award winning coach said.
He beat competition from Busoga United’s Abbey Bogere Kikomeko and Express FC’s Wasswa Bbosa.
Also, forward Anaku scored six goals for KCCA FC with a hat-trick against Busoga United on his return from injury. He saw off competition from striker Steven Mukwala (URA FC) and Shaka Ssozi (Busoga United).
Both Ssimbwa and Anaku walked away with One million shillings as prize money during the awards ceremony held on Thursday at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo.
