The Electoral Commission has mourned the demise of former Commissioner, Amb. Dr. Tomasi Sisye Kiryapawo which occurred on April 11, 2021, at TMR International Hospital in Naalya, Kampala.
The late Kiryapawo served as a member of the Electoral Commission from February 19, 2006 to February 19, 2013.
Speaking at the Requiem mass held at All Saint’s Cathedral, Nakasero on Thursday, Electoral Commission chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama eulogized the late Kiryapawo as a “leader with a devoted sense of service to the nation and its people.”
“On behalf of the entire Commission and on my own behalf, we mourn with you and celebrate the extra ordinary life of this distinguished civil servant, diplomat, politician, election administrator, community mobilizer and a leader with a devoted sense of service to the nation and its people,” said Byabakama.
“Tomasi blazed his trial with kindness, generosity, friendliness, diplomacy, high talent, promotion of tolerance and bridging divisions. He was a person of great conscience conviction who could stand up against all odds,” he added.
The mass was attended by among others; the former EC chairman, Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu, Minister of Public Service, Muluri Mukasa, State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Okello Oryem.
