The management of Uganda Premier League entity Kyetume has appointed David Katono Mutono to save the club from relegation.
Katono takes the club’s helm, replacing Jackson Mayanja “Mia Mia” who resigned from his position in the midweek following a 3-1 home defeat to Mbarara City at Nakisunga Ssaza playground.
With three games left to wind-up the regular season, the CAF “B” licensed coach will work alongside Jimmy Kintu as his immediate assistant in the push to avoid the drop.
In their previous 27 games, the club has managed five wins, eight draws and 14 defeats, settling in the 14th position with 23 points in the drop zone.
Katono becomes the fourth coach to handle Kyetume this season after Charles Livingstone Mbabazi, Alex Isabirye Musongola and Jackson Mayanja.
He has in the past worked at Misindye, Soana FC (now Tooro United), Seeta United, Buganda Province and Kyetume as an assistant coach.
The Slaughters will need maximum points in their last three fixtures against Soltilo Bright Stars (A), Onduparaka (H) and Vipers Sports Club (A) to brighten their chances of maintaining top flight status.
