20 Rwandans Arrested Daily While Entering Uganda – UPDF

1 Mins read

Major General Francis Takirwa, the 2nd Division Commander has revealed that Ugandan security forces are intercepting more than 20 Rwandan Nationals every day while entering Uganda through illegal entry points.

General Takirwa says the illegals are being arrested along the border stretching from Mirama in Ntungamo to Ishasha in Kanungu District.

These he said are often sent back but they keep coming back.

He blamed this on the security on the   other side of the border.

“We have been intercepting Rwandan nationals entering the country and we return them back but they come coming. We don’t know whether or not this is provocation from our neighbors,” he said Gen  Takirwa.

The commander also blamed some Ugandan locals in the border towns that hide the Rwandans that enter the country illegally.

He cited this week’s incident where 3 Rwandan were found being hosted by a businessman in Katuna town council.

This practice he says flies in the face of government initiatives to stop the spread of covid19.
