Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs has donated 2 oxygen cylinders and one oxygen regulator worth Shs 4 million to Kisoro Hospital to help in the fight against Covid19.
While delivering the items, Mateke who is also the Kisoro Woman Member of parliament applauded the good work that is being done by the health workers at the facility, and for putting their own lives on the line to save others.
“We thank them for being on the frontline; it’s not easy, and we know they are overwhelmed by the numbers, so we thank you,” she said.
The minister revealed that she was supposed to bring 8 cylinders but getting them was hard giving the current high demand.
She handed the donation to the hospital administration led by the Dr Micheal Baganizi
Dr Baganizi, the Kisoro Hospital Medical Superintendent said currently they need more cylinders to be able to transport more oxygen from the Mbarara plant.
“Because of the few cylinders we have to go to Mbarara twice a week, yet a patient needs two to three cylinders of oxygen per day,” he said.
