Man Clobbers Father to Death in Kanungu

A 33-year-old man in Kanungu has been arrested on   allegations of assaulting his own 63-year-old father to death.

The suspect, Byamukama Vianne is said to have murdered his farther Kasuka Gabriel of Rurama cell Kihanda sub county in Kanungu district.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson says the incident occurred on Sunday evening 4th July 2021 at around 9pm at the home of the suspect and the case was reported at Kirima Police post.

The suspect, who is a biological son to the deceased, reportedly came back home drunk at around 8pm and started beating his wife Namanya Adera, without any reason.

“The wife made an alarm which attracted her father-in-law and some neighbors.  As they reached their son’s home they found the two fighting inside their house. The deceased pushed the door to open for the wife of the suspect to run away leaving the deceased behind which prompted the son to transfer his anger to his father and shattered his head with a piece of wood and brick leading to his death.” Maate said.

Maate says police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect who was trying to run away.

Maate further said that a team of detectives led by D/CIDO and SOCO this morning visited the scene and post-mortem was done at the scene and a number of exhibits recovered.

The case is registered at Kanungu police station on reference number CRB 325/2021.
